Hey Aggies! For this week, I wanted to spotlight some of the amazing talent that we have on campus. Here is a guide to just some of the incredible student run groups on campus that are worth going to watch (or even perform in)!

UC Davis isn’t just about labs, lectures, and late-night study sessions—it’s also home to some seriously talented student performers. Whether you're into jazz, K-pop, improv comedy, or orchestral video game soundtracks, there’s a group here doing it live—and often for free or student-discounted prices.

Sometimes Spring Quarter can feel like running a marathon! Staying locked in on studying can feel impossible especially when the gorgeous weather is calling your name through the window. I’m here to hopefully offer some helpful tips to our GDB community on how to stay energized and motivated throughout this final stretch of the academic year. Let’s break free from the slump and finish strong—here’s how!

Hi! I’m Emily, one of your GDB Peer Advisors, and one of my favorite parts of this job is being able to connect and relate with other GDB students. My status as a student at UC Davis makes me better equipped to answer student’s questions about the difficulty of certain classes or professors, and what on-campus resources I’d recommend. If you’ve had an appointment with me, and especially if I’ve helped you with an academic plan, you can probably tell that I prioritize mental health, and encourage students to do what works best for their goals and well-being.

As a college student, it can be difficult to find a balance between eating healthy without wasting precious time and money. Having a good, well-balanced diet is essential for college students to have enough energy to learn and study, as well as make sure that their health is cared for the best it can be. Here are some tips on how to eat nutritious meals without breaking the bank. 

As the winter quarter rolls in, UC Davis students often find themselves searching for the perfect cozy study spot to stay productive while avoiding the chill outside. While the library and CoHo are popular go-tos, they can get crowded quickly. If you're looking for a quieter or more unique environment, check out these hidden gems across campus that offer the perfect sanctuary for your study sessions.

Work-study is a great way for students at UC Davis to earn money, gain work experience, and help cover educational expenses. UC Davis offers two types of work-study programs: Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Institutional Work-Study. In this guide, we’ll break down the key differences between the two, eligibility requirements, and how to find job opportunities—whether it’s through Handshake or community service positions.

On March 27, 2024, I walked off the plane and into the Entebbe airport. As I rounded the corner of the baggage claim, I saw a large sign that read: “Welcome to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa”. Over the next three months, I learned why Uganda was the pearl of Africa; I saw Uganda’s beauty in the lush, rolling hills in Buhoma, in the family of elephants crossing in front of us into the vast green savannah in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and in the wildflowers and ferns decorating the steep slope of Mount Sabyinyo.
